Hi everyone,
I recently reached 150 subscribers in total to this newsletter. It has been really heartening to see interest continue to grow since its launch four months ago. I love being able to reach a broader audience, and produce shorter form, more frequent and hopefully more accessible content than conventional academic publishing allows.
I typically turn out three posts a week: the ‘Stop, Look, and Listen’ weekly round-up of articles and podcasts worth listening to; the weekly ‘One Take’ film review; and posts in my regularly monthly series on ‘The Long Nineties’, ‘Isms and Schisms’, ‘Present Pasts’, and ‘Cold War World’. Roughly half of all this output is freely available to all to read, and the other half behind a paywall.
To put it straightforwardly, for me to continue to produce this newsletter, which takes up most of my working time, I need the number of paid subscribers to increase, so that this can become a viable source of income in the longer run. Having had to leave my job…
